Kairos is, in classical rhetoric, the opportune time and/or place, the right or appropriate time to say or do the right or appropriate thing. This applies to the genre of the blog because blogging happened in the right place at the right time and spread like wildfire. Blogs started in a world where reality tv, media intrusion into peoples lives and public voyeurism were all beginning to explode. The internet started to be used very commonly by everyone and blogs were a new form of personal news. I think this is paralleled with the emergence of social media also.

In the beginning of the reading there were different concerns with blogs in peoples personal lives. There was the girl who was being stalked by the FBI on her 'private' blog, the girl who was outcast by her family, job and community because of her blog and more. My big concern with all of this internet voyeurism is privacy. Because of society's new found craving for voyeurism and people in general wanting to be voyeured, privacy is quickly becoming extinct. This is a very sad truth. Voyeurism is essential to understand writing because most of writing's purpose is to present a topic, person, idea, etc and set it up to be voyeured.
