Prewriting Assignment #1

Although the name, “Cupcakes and Cashmere” sounds somewhat plain, this weblog is far from ordinary. Through the use of vivid, colorful photographs and descriptive language, the author is able to “document the things that inspire her” in a fun and visually appealing way. Cupcakes and Cashmere incorporates all different aspects of everyday life, including: beauty, travel, food, fashion, and many more. Emily, the author, uses different styles of posts each time to keep the blog interesting.

With a name like Cupcakes and Cashmere, it is clear who the intended audience for this blog is: women. Although many would agree that most, if not all women are fond of eating cupcakes and wearing soft, cuddly cashmere, there are some women that just would not be attracted to a blog that goes by such a name. Since this blog is full of fun do-it-yourself ideas, recipes, décor photos, etc., the ideal audience for Cupcakes and Cashmere would be young, creative women looking for ways to be inspired and add some fun to their lives.

Cupcakes and Cashmere’s audience appears to be younger women in search of fresh ideas to spice up their lives. There is a real sense of community between all of the women who communicate through submitting comments on different posts. The level of positivity that the audience exemplifies through their short and sweet comments really keeps the mood of Cupcakes and Cashmere as a whole very light and upbeat.

The overall goal of the blog Cupcakes and Cashmere is to inspire readers to keep their lives fresh and exciting. The fact that this weblog goes further than just the website and is accessible through Twitter, Pinterest, and Facebook makes it much easier for the audience to fulfill the goal this blog presents.
