Question: How are smartphones impacting our society?

Although smartphones have only been around for a short amount of time, they have without a doubt, have had a huge impact on society as a whole. Now, whether or not this impact is positive or negative, depends on who you talk to and what their personal opinion is. There are definitely both positive and negative points that can be made when it comes to how smartphones impact our society and how people interact.

Smartphones are amazing pieces of technology, no matter how you look at them. They have Internet, e-mail capability, countless applications that you can install, etc. Smartphones are excellent tools for aiding people in communication, especially during times of crisis. For example, people who were involved in the Boston bombing tragedy, they were able to communicate what had happened by texting, tweeting, etc. because phone calls would not go through.

There are so many possibilities that come with owning and using a smartphone, that it is difficult to think about the fact that they are starting to have a negative impact on our society. Use of smartphones while driving causes numerous wrecks every day, which is a pretty big negative for them. Smartphones also hinder our ability to communicate face to face with each other.
