What is Literacy?
James Paul Gee goes into great detail about what literacy is. Literacy according to him is how people in different societies communicate with each other. Literacy, according to Gee, is the ability for different people are able to understand each other and when you cannot communicate you become illiterate. Literacy is the ability to understand other people.
This does not really change my view on what literacy is. I know its the ability to understand other cultures and have a line of communication with them. Gee confirmed my point as to what literacy is. I now have a better idea as to how to approach my literary story. I will have a better way to approach my story.
