Who says there isn't scientific hypothesis that support God and science coexisting peacefully? As humans, we have a tendency to make complex ideas very black and white, when all we really need is a little thought and reasoning. To smash God and science into the same category of thought is unreasonable.
Science is the intellectual and practice activity invoking systematic structures of the physical and natural world through observing and experimenting. Now is God something we test and experiment on? No. Faith is in a whole different ball game. "Scientists can believe in God because such a belief is not a scientific matter". Yes we can observe and study religion and its effects, but is not something to be put in the same hand with science.
People sometimes question their faith when moments of hopelessness, despair, or misery occur. What we don't stop to think about is where God's effects end and nature begins. Sure these times of horror are confusing and is natural for us as humans to wonder "why". These "questions about the presence of evil in the world sometimes leave [us] wondering if [we] have it right". This is where we look for explanations and answers as to why unjust things do happen. Rather than asking "why", we should be asking "how". Rather that asking God why, we should be asking scientists "how". Consider a life-threatening tumor in an infant's brain. The parents wonder why God would let this happen. God however is not involved with such occurrences and obviously does not wish them upon families. These instances reflect on heredity, probability, and testing. Or in other words, science.
As humans we live in beliefs that make us comfortable as opposed to going outside of our mental boxes. The contrary opinion of thought is that "some interpretations of modern science provide positive reinforcements for belief in God". When we change our "auto-pilot" train of thought settings, we see that these two conflicting topics are not so conflicting when we don't compare them to one another. "Acts of God will be outside of the scientific remit. But that does not mean they cannot occur".
