Monday Reading Assignment

The author of this article states that our secondary discourse of language is what our literacy is comprised of, along with what we gain through education. The first discourse is our acquisition of language through who we interact with. We acquire literacy through our interactions and own use of experiences. The article did not really change my understanding of literacy.. it seemed as if he just found a way to put it in fancy terms and delve deeper into our "discourse" of literacy.

This might help me in my own story to further explain these "discourses" in literacy he speaks of. If I can find a way to involve multiple discourses into my story it will only make the story that much more complete.
