Ongs Reading

I see Ongs argument being that literacy and writing the human mind wouldnt be able to think like it does. That writing is the only way humans can remember thoughts that we have. He also says that someone who is "illiterate" is in a different category of people because literacy is such a common thing in america and that its causing a change in other countries who have mass numbers of illiterate people. He talks about there being a difference in the way people see the word nevertheless by saying " If a functionally illiterate person was asked to look at the word nevertheless for 2 minutes without letting any letters appear in their mind they couldnt comply. A person from a completely oral background wouldnt have these problems"
