Literacy can be a complicated topic. The definition of literacy seems to vary from person to person. What I have gathered is that literacy is not simply the ability to read and write. While literacy does have to do with reading and writing it is also the ability to interpret, communicate and understand. We can interpret a writing in many ways. We can view it in the setting which it was written, or we can view it on how it applies to our world today. Literacy is important as we use it everyday of our lives weathers its following directions or being able to properly communicate with others.
