Do racial injustices through literacy happen in our society today?

Is America considered a "white nation" where literacy is controlled by white or have we become more of a diverse culture?

I think overall in chapter 4 I agree with her arguments more than I did when I first read her introduction. She includes topics like talking about the president (Reagan) and racial prejudices concerning African Americans. The amount of evidence she offers makes in almost impossible not to agree with what she has to say. She talks about ideologies of literacy and how they played a role in enforcing a conception of America as a White nation along with Brown vs. Board of Education with how Reagan saw in private and parochial institutions as a return to “old fashioned” literacy basics and a refuge from civil rights agendas.
