1. In the article, first Gee discusses the importances of literacy in our life, he mentions that literacy is not only the ability to read or write, but also the application of reading or writing in certain conditions by using specialized languages in areas of expertise. Then he gives an example of conversation between a mom and her child. The child it too young to understand the description of a dinosaur egg, so the mom tries to explain the contents in that description by connecting other knowledges which the child is familiar with, and giving the child new knowledges. Gee talks about YU_GI_OU card as a another example of literacy. In order to play the card, children have to be able to read and understand the complex rules, and be able to use specialized languages such as ATK and DEF. This process of learning new language is a good way of increasing children's literacy that can prepare children for high-level educations.

2.Computer games, movies, comics, novels, animations, and music.
